Larry's late leaf cleanup

Larry cleaned up his fall leaves AFTER
taking down his Christmas tree

Larry, aka "the weekend yard warrior" spent most of Saturday (two days after Christmas) doing his fall leaf cleanup. Yes he felt weird about it, since it was only two days after he unwrapped Christmas gifts. Fortunately, the new rotary lawnmower Santa left him came in very handy. So at least his late cleanup timing was good in that regard!

But how weird is that? Cleaning up tree leaves 2 days after Christmas.

Larry would explain to us that fall weather in many parts of the northeastern US wasn't conducive to regular leaf clean-up. It seemed that by the time all the leaves had fallen off the trees there was already snow cover on the ground.

There were several weekends Larry tried to work in the yard, but he had to stay inside drinking beer and watching football games instead. Larry also likes to drink beer while doing yard work, in fact, Larry likes to drink beer anytime! One time I was looking for Larry and asked his neighbor where he was. Larry's neighbor told me to look for a can of beer, and I would find Larry's hand wrapped around it!

Larry shares the woes of so many other weekend yard warriors, so much to do in so little time. A "good" day of rain on a Saturday will usually put an end to his wife's plans for getting some yard work done on a weekend. After all, says Larry, most landscape supply centers are closed or have limited Sunday hours. (..and kickoff is 1:00 p.m.)

"There's always next weekend" Larry says with a wink.
